Welcome
Welcome to the Friends of the Museum of Army Music, formerly known as the Friends of the Kneller Hall Museum. The Friends supports the work of the curator and staff of this historic collection of musical instruments and artefacts which chart the glorious history of British Army music.
A New Home

With the sale of Kneller Hall, the Museum of Army Music closed to the public at the end of February 2020. The museum's items and artefacts were packed in preservation-accredited materials and are now in storage at Brompton Barracks Chatham, part of the headquarters of the Royal School of Military Engineering.
A merger of the Museum of Army Music with the Museum of Military Medicine has been considered as the MMM has plans to move to a new building with hi-tech exhibitions, offices and teaching space in Cardiff. However, Army Basing and Infrastructure has also been tasked with finding a location for the Museum of Army Music like that formerly enjoyed at Kneller Hall. The search is not yet concluded and reasonable ‘outside-the-wire’ locations for a self-sustaining project continue to be evaluated.
The good news is that some funding from the sale of Kneller Hall has been secured for the museum. The money is likely to go towards enhancing the quality of the museum once a site for it has been finally decided. We're all looking forward to that decision being made and having some positive news for the future of our Museum of Army Music.
